This is an extract from a mail I got from ORARI in Bali. I’m still awaiting a mail from ORARI Jakarta.
Hi Gust,
Just a short email for now.
I remember seeing that news headline too about the move toward having reciprocal agreement between Japan and Indonesia. However, as with many news around here, I haven’t seen anyone doing the diligent work of following up on that issue and turning it into something official. In Bali, we are pretty removed from Jakarta where many decisions are made. Perhaps if you can inquiry to the office in Jakarta you can help us shed some light on this issue too?

I have contacted ORARI to get to the latest of this.
Also read this:
The guest operator permit will allow the amateur radio operator these privileges:
• The guest operator can operate at an amateur radio station belonging to a local amateur radio operator while being accompanied by the local station licensee. (Note that this license does not permit the foreign operator to erect a station.)
“Foreign amateurs who wish to obtain license in Indonesia should have a temporary residence or residence permit in Indonesia and a reciprocal agreement has been established by the 2 countries.”
Belgium has a reciprocal agreement but I won’t get a temporary license because what outlined above.

No answer, that was to be expected. Looks like an illegal operation.

I wonder how you got permission for operating from Bali. Foreigners need a 1 year permanent address in Indonesia before being allowed to apply for a license. (Guest license however are OK but YB9/JJ1DQR isn’t a gust license)
