Today we got the FT8 program working on the new computer, also the 160 m antenna is working okay. I will transmit FT8 on 160m the next few days and I will also join the 160m contest this weekend. I hope I can work on the 80m antenna next week; the Delta loop antenna I can be on a team with the short vertical antenna a few days maybe next week for the North American station – I will let you know my schedule.

NOTE from VA2WA: I can add from myself that Eddy did a nice job to get an effective setup for 160m. As I saw on the PSK reporter the XV1X FT8 signal at 160m have been copied from the Netherlands till the USA West Coast during the last night.

Today my laptop with te FT8 program broke, my desktop broke down a few months ago. We will buy a new desktop, my wife will call some shops tomorrow. I selected a Dell with 6-8 USb ports, LAN, DVD read/write, WiFi etc. In any case it will take some time, before I will be back onFT8. In the meantime, I will be on 7015, listening up 1. Most days 1130-1330, looking for East Coast NA via SP.

JANUARY 15 – Victor, VA2WA got in touch to provide some QRV info regarding 80m activity next week by Eddy, XV1X.

Look for Eddy during January 17-23 (except the 20th) to be on 3.570 (FT8) from 18:00 to 23:30z. TX 1st on 250Hz. This time slot includes openings to EU-SP and NA-LP. The opening to the US East Coast can last longer due to lower latitude.

Victor adds:

I know he has a pretty good RX in that area due to a quiet QTH and a few BEVs. Currently, he uses a PA providing 500W in FT8 mode and 40ft bottom loaded vertical with 2 elevated radials 8ft above ground.
