February 20 — Last night great signals from Europe on 80 meter like 20 meters! VP6EU Started RTTY on 15m this morning. Too late for eastern Europe. New generator made S7 noise on 160m. Today we will change the generator again. Next try this evening. [PA3EWP]
February 19 — The team earlier had power problems with the generator overheating – they are now using a new one. The 80m vertical is ready and later today (Pitcairn time) they will assemble the 160m antenna and beverage. [PA3EWP]
February 17 — VP6EU started today with low dipole on 17m. Later we received our 2 boxes,only vertical for 30m is up. Big storm all this afternoon. [PA3EWP]
February 16 — VP6EU team arrived on Pitcairn. Shack is ready, we are waiting for antenna equipment. Still in container on the boat. [PA3EWP]
January 31, 2017 – Everything is okay. The team is very grateful for the great sponsoring from the ham community. The antenna material stored in Auckland is loaded into a shipcontainer. The cargo ship “Claymore II” departs New Zealand on January 31, 2017. We will board in Mangareva, French Polynesia, on February 14, 2017 to continue to Pitcairn. All our equipment is successfully checked and the suitcases are packed. Altogether we have 250kg radio equipment! The team members are in good spirits and looking optimistically forward to a successful DXpedition.

September 27, 2016 — From 16 February until 5 March 2017, a European team consisting of Uwe DJ9HX, Erno DK2AMM, Hans DL6JGN and Ronald PA3EWP will be active for 18 days from Pitcairn as VP6EU.
They will operate from 160-10m in CW, SSB and RTTY. (no permission to operate on 60 meters). They will try to operate with 2 stations around the clock. Equipment will be 2 x Elecraft K3, Expert 1.3 and a homemade 600 watt amplifier. Antennas will be a Spiderbeam or Hexbeam for 10-20 meter and verticals for the other bands. For 80/160 they will use a K9AY and/or beverage antennas. They will stay at hilltop location on island.
