MAY 16, 2017 — On January 20th this year, DX-World.net broke news of a planned DXpedition to Mellish Reef. We now have an update courtesy Rob, N7QT
Mellish Reef landing rights has been approved/granted for November 2017. Team will consist of 9 operators and 4 stations. Transportation to/from Mellish has been obtained. We are now working on logistics, station design and acquisition.
Operation will be on the 10m-160m bands and the following modes – CW/SSB/RTTY. Due to current propagation conditions, we are planning to focus particularly on the lower bands (20m-160m).
Dear Oms from the Expedition VK9MA
I tried to get one contact on any mode ,any frequencies without succes with my litle station as you can see on qrz.com!
I tried also in 2014 with the same conditions witout succes also!!
I hope to get the one contact for me!!
All the best to team!
all the best to every one.
I am still to hear VK9MA on any band & mode.
I was fortunate to get VK9MT in my LOG in April 2014.
At that time I had a heart attack & never expected to survive to get my last one, #1 HR on SSB.
At the time I thought it was my last chance to get Mellish Reef & like many DXers around the world, thought that to get DXCC #1 HR in my lifetime was going to be IMPOSSIBLE. Now I realise that Mellish is on again in 2017. !! I was licensed in 1950 & hope to reach 90 years of age in 2018.
Those DXers who think that the rare entities like P5 & 7O and a few others, should be deleted, should think again. !!
The thrill to get the unexpected in the log is the ULTIMATE thrill in DXing is…… #1 HONOR ROLL.
Thanks to ALL those dedicated DXers who confirm the QSO’s & ALL those OM’s who go on DXpeditions.
They make it the greatest ‘sport’ in the world. !!!
Friends all of the VK9MA receive an affectionate greeting from Caracas Venezuela wishing that they are having a great time in such beautiful Island OC / 072. I thank you for the release on CW in the 18 Mhz band good luck and happy return home take care 73s dx YV5HNJ Ramon
