APRIL 25 – As per picture above, Paul mentions “the days are getting shorter and cooler here at Casey. Unfortunately, no good Aurora’s yet as we always seem to have cloud at night.”

APRIL 21 – Last few days, there has been a pirate operating as VK0PD on FT8 & SSB. Paul has not operated digimodes from Casey station and was definitely not on air on SSB yesterday (April 20) due to a blizzard. Beware the fake! Check genuine operating schedule here

APRIL 1, 2021 – Many thanks to Paul VK0PD for sending these pictures from Casey Station, Antarctica. Paul mentions he’s working SSB only at the moment but will soon use Digi. He is plagued by local interference (as can be seen below). Activity on 20 & 40m so far.

MARCH 28, 2021 – QSL via EB7DX manager provides DX-World with a preview of the VK0PD card which is now in the printing process. Paul has been active on 20SSB so far.

MARCH 20, 2021 – Paul, VK2PAD is currently stationed at Casey Station, Antarctica where he works as an instrument electrician and trades supervisor. He mentions he runs an IC-7300 and/or IC-705 with a 300W linear amplifier. Antennas are 3 x 10m telescoping fiberglass poles. He has made some contacts on 20m so far and will construct further wire antennas later. Paul also says that unfortunately there’s a 1Kw ionosonde transmitter about 200m away from his shack.
