We left Noumea on Sep 1 in the morning, earlier than expected and arrived off the coast of the island two days later. We had to use the engine for the entire journey, because the wind wasn’t favourable. When we left it was not sure that we will be able to reach the island. Some vague information indicate that coloured water, resulting from the activity of undersea volcanos has been spot at times, with the water temperature indicating 40C one km away from the island, if not more.
