P40AUA special event will run the entire month of March 2016, to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Aruban flag and national anthem. It also commemorates the 30th anniversay of our Status Aparte.
On March 18, 1976, Aruba officially introduced the Aruban flag and national anthem.
On January 1, 1986, Aruba received it’s Status Aparte from the Netherlands. It was a historic moment, as Aruba sepparated from the Neth. Antilles’ constellation of the then 6 islands, and received an autonomous status within the Dutch Kingdom. For the amateur radio community, it meant that Aruba changed from PJ4 prefix to the P4 prefix. It was in 1986 that Aruba introduced it’s own currency, and stamps.
The station will be working all bands, CW and SSB.
