Henri OJ0JR and Anne OJ0YL have just landed on Märket Reef and are already QRV on 30m. Anne sends a few photos from the island.

  • [JULY 10] –

Two callsigns will once again rise from one of the Baltic Sea’s most exposed operating locations: Märket Reef. More rock than island, more sea than shelter, Märket is the kind of place where every QSO begins long before the first CQ — with weather, landing conditions, antennas, power, and the constant presence of wind and waves.

From August 15–22, 2026, Henri OJ0JR and Anne OJ0YL plan to activate Märket Reef, bringing this rare OJ0 entity back on the air for DXers around the world.

Märket’s flat rock surfaces, open sea horizon, and saltwater surroundings make it a dramatic setting for radio — but also a demanding one. Landing is weather-dependent, with access planned via Finland, and all operations will be shaped by the realities of working from a small, exposed reef in the Baltic.

  •  Bands: 80 to 10 meters.
  •  Modes: CW, SSB, and FT8.
  •  Equipment: Yaesu FTdx10, Elecraft K3S, SPE Expert 1.3K-FA, MyAntennas EFHW-8010, Windom for 80–10 m, DX Commander 40–10 m, and dipoles.

Full VOACAP and ITURHFProp propagation forecasts are available here, featuring band-by-band predictions and sunrise/sunset data for Märket and your own QTH — useful for planning those low-band openings in the middle of the summer and finding the best path into OJ0.

Club Log uploads will be live-streamed if connectivity allows; otherwise, logs will be updated several times daily. OQRS will open once the DXpedition concludes.

This activation offers DXers another opportunity to work OJ0 from one of Europe’s smallest, most exposed, and most weather-tested DXCC entities.
