UPDATE (JULY 7) some more info including cost via DX-World advertiser, WIMO
JULY 6, 2022 – Social media awash with news today that YAESU is about to introduce a new transceiver – the FT-710. It will cover 160-6m with 100w output.
Note: The FT-710M and FT-710S are the 50 and 10 watt versions of this new radio. Scheduled to be released in late August, the price is still unknown. Late August coincides with the Tokyo Ham Radio Fair.
See here for more tech info (currently in Japanese). Weight: 4.5kg.
Direct sampling like the 7300 has sucks and the Ft-710 wont be much better. they do over load the fruntends when to many loca radio signals hit it . the FT-710 2021 design should be better than the old 7300 with is was designed in 2014 so the FT-710 should have some improvements to how it handles Overloads. the 7300 will display on screen its being overloaded as you lister the gabled signals. the Yaesu Ftdx 10 SDR doesn’t have the overload problems because it has the real frontend before the SDR section. Like the Yaesu Ftdx10 the Elecraft Model K4HD
dual superhet module, the KHDR4. Ideal for competitive field day, contesting, and DXpedition stations. Each superhet receive section includes two crystal filters: one SSB/data bandwidth, one CW bandwidth. The superhet’s 8 MHz IF has an excellent dynamic range.
It is not a Hybrid-SDR but a direct-sampling SDR and a direct competitor to the IC-7300.
This radio reminds of that one radio that is a radio. Awesome. It’s got stuff in it and such. I wish they would design one with a thingy.
I think this radio will over take the industry and possibly cure cancer. There is already claims that covid 19 will end because of this fine radio. There is speculation that facial hair will be a thing of the past.
A competitor to the IC-7300? I think they’re 6yrs too late…… they’ll have a ton of catching up to do. They said the same about the FTDX-10.. yet the 7300 continued to press onwards.
Looks like a nice radio but I still like my FT-920 immensely and my 756PRO series. They all play pretty much the same. Once out for a while, perhaps teh price will be more in line around 1K or so. Seems pricey at the moment for an HF/6 Radio. (I have other radios as well, but mentioned the ones with 6 meters included).
The FT-710 is an SDR transceiver, just like IC-7300. It’s not a hybrid SDR like FTDX10 is. It is an entry level radio, filling the gap left by FT450 and competing directly with IC-7300. The price should (will) be about 2/3 of the FTDX10 price.
It will have the same menu and touch screen driven functionality as FT991A and will likely inherit all the user experience faults that Yaesu made with FT991 and particularly FTDX10, and then probably some – http://vk4dx.com/2022/01/05/ftdx10-dd-review/
Off topic but I too would like to see a new Sat rig.
Exciting to know that manufacturers are still turning out new, upgraded, Amateur Equipment, but like another (others) have said I envision that the FT-710 is being produced to compete directly with the ICOM IC-7300 and even potentially surpass it. If that’s correct then the FT-710 can be expected to not have some of the filtering that the FTdx10 has or some cutbacks in order not to cut into the FTdx10’s potential customers. Ideally, at least for me, I’d of rather seen the FTdx10 reintroduced with VCT added bringing it closer to being a striped down FTdx101d then the FT-710 could fit nicely under the FTdx-10, at a lower price point and with lesser features while still providing the potential to overtake the ICOM IC-7300 market that is about saturated yet still active and alive.
All of FTdx Series have a problem using a bug-key in CW mode.
This problem is related with slow QSK time(current fastest QSK time is 15ms for all FTdx series)
This QSK time of Yaes FTdx is same as “rise time” of Kenwood TRCV.
This slow QSK time is often causing error during keying by mechanical bug-key.
The transition time between dot and dash of bug-key varies considerably from person to person.
Some times, FTdx series Rig not be able to recognize the fast transition time of bug-key due to
slow QSK time 15ms.
I wonder about this QSK time improved in new model FT-710 or not.
If the users who have a plan to use the Yaesu new model have to consider the QSK time spec.
The time spec of Kenwood models in 1ms(15times faster than Yaesu QSK time)
The amount of reckless speculation on these radios any time a new one is released by any company is like listening to a bunch of drunks at a bar.
Totally pointless, nothing will come of it, and all the guessing you do won’t change what it really will be.
Like a bunch of old women.
Not too exciting.
How about a new “FTDX-10”, but more functional.
Make it bigger, add two VFO’s (like the Yaesu FT-920), backlight the buttons/knobs,
and add some more buttons; so more usability is out in the open and not menu hidden. 😲
Maybe even add 2m/70CM too.
I’m wondering if this is a stripped-down version of the FTdx-10, with a reduced price point, as a replacement for the discontinued entry-level FT-450 and a competitor for the ICom 7300 “Volksradio” (the transceiver EVERYONE seems to have).
It looks to me that they have simply taken the 991A and removed the 2M/70cm capability. That removes the V/UHF amp and should make it less expensive.
Don’t agree this will replace 991a as it’s been very successful, reliable and having 2m, 70cm will allow Yeasu to price this new product below 991a probably in the 799-999 price point
@Don the size can be deduced, because the 3.5mm phones jack is visible at the front.
I own a FTDX10 for almost 10 months and I am hyper happy with, excellent RX and awesome audio just using the stock hand mic and the EQ, now it feels a little bit cumberstone at the moment of changing bands and this 710 seen to be fixing thos elittle design issues.
Wow, I’m having FT-897D flashbacks.
I expect this is a replacement for ftdx10 ft991a.

why did they make this? It seems the same as the ftdx-10?
For translation of the page that WP3MW mentioned, at the top there is a button that says “English.” I use MS Edge for a browser and it just automagically translated the page. It’s a pretty dry and bureaucratic page that only gives a bare minimum of info though from what I could determine. I am hoping that they’re more careful with the manual(s) and with making everything work without the obfuscation and confusion that is present with the 991A. In a word, that radio is wonky! LOL
Does anyone know the size of this radio? 817 or 10dx size?
Well waiting it comes to europe.and good price??
Information of the radio in English will definitely be appreciated thank you
Still waiting for a replacement for the FT-847 satellite rig. Just not holding my breath.
Yaesu is JA company. Full details to follow. Use Google translate?
The tech info only in japanese ?
