NEWS UPDATE – Past couple of days, Gildas F4HQZ has been signing FT5WQ/MM in the waters near Crozet. Generally, he does not visit this most wanted DXCC entity, but on occasion he has done for very short periods. Never say never this time!
NOVEMBER 1, 2020 – A reminder that Gildas, F4HQZ is captain of a fishing vessel which sails in the FT5 area for up to 3 months so activity from Crozet (as FT5WQ) or Kerguelen (as FT5XT) can be very sporadic. He sometimes signs FT5XT/MM or FT5WQ/MM and has recently been QRV briefly from the ship, not the rare DXCC islands. Info from 2016 & 2017 below is still relevant today.
OCTOBER 10, 2017 – FT5XT op: Gildas, F4HQZ (ex-TU5KG) will be active on October 11th. Look for him on 21Mhz or 14Mhz SSB during his spare time (2 or 3 hours) on Kerguelen Island. QSL via F4DXW.
OCTOBER 18, 2016 – Gildas FT5XT sent his latest log to QSL manager F4DXW which is now uploaded to Club Log. All proof’s will be sent to ARRL for DXCC validity.
*On October 13th, Gildas transmitted for 2 hours from Kerguelen making 136 QSOs on 15SSB. He worked mainly Asian stations and some from Europe plus two stations from South America.
For info, Gildas is a fisherman and goes to Kerguelen island for a few hours during boat refuelling. Now he will sail within the vicinity of Crozet island, where he will be active maritime mobile (FT5XT/MM).
October 11, 2016 – Gildas, F4HQZ (ex-TU5KG) will again be active as FT5XT from Kerguelen Island on Thursday or Friday this week. Activity on 15 or 20m when time permits.
Logs sent to QSL manager (F4DXW) on return home in December.
