Martin, MW0BRO updates DX-World readers regarding his planned A7/MW0BRO activity.
“Disappointed not to get my A7/MW0BRO callsign despite jumping through all the hoops, licence application, airline tickets, passport copy, home licence copy, letter of approval from QARS secretary.
It seems that the authority just doesn’t want to issue visitor licences as my application has been waiting on a simple security check that is standard procedure, and has still not been verified 2 months after my application, nulling my chance of getting my own licence during my 2 week holiday in Qatar. Notwithstanding that I’ve been able to operate the immense A71A club station which is hardly ever used by the local hams yet maintained by my good friend from India, Kumar, A75GE, who has been a perfect host.
I’ll be returning to the UK on Thursday but will be active as A71A again. Mainly CW 20mtrs and probably 17 & 15 and I’ll be trying 40mtrs occasionally although I’ve yet to hear a single signal on 40mtrs so far – Martin MW0BRO”
