NEWS UPDATE – With just over 85K QSOs this DXpedition is now finished. The Russian DX Team made a combined total of 180,000 QSOs.
NOVEMBER 3 – Today is the last full day of 7P8RU activity. Tomorrow, they’ll start to tear down antennas and radio positions. Probably one or two stations will QRV until tomorrow evening.
OCTOBER 27 – Vasily reports everything is still going well in Lesotho. +40K QSOs now in the log. The team try their best on 160m, but the static crashes are very high. Couple more photos (click to enlarge) for DX-World readers below. One shows ops position, other 160m vertical.
OCTOBER 24 – Many thanks to R7AL for the exclusive pictures of 7P8RU activity. Vasily says “everything is going well in Lesotho. All antennas up and running despite bad weather and strong winds. Two radios and amplifiers failed but they have been fixed”.
[OFFICIAL INFO] Vasily, R7AL got in touch to say the RUDXT (recently 3DA0RU) will soon QRV from Lesotho for 10 days as 7P8RU. QRV on 160-10m; CW, SSB, Digi. So far they unsure if they will participate in the CQWW SSB contest. QSL via R7AL, LoTW, Club Log OQRS.

Wow! What a group of great operators and setup. I worked them on less than 85 watts on 3 bands 30,15,12 meters. I am 87 and can only travel this way with Ham radio. Keep up the great work guys.
I thought I didn’t have a prayer of working them with my 100 watts from southern Nevada. Boy, was I surprised when they came back to me!
Well done on an excellent op!
I’m impressed by this operation overall – from excellent operators to their operating band choices. It would be difficult to imagine anyone needing 7P8 after this.
tnx for CW/SSB Operations… nice!
Nice expedition but difficult in low conditions but possible .All the best to all team and all OM on the blog. From f6bcc Bernard
Worked them today with 100 watts and an Endfed antenna up 20 feet. Great op’s!
